her crooked lips, her
sweltering hips

boys in Chevrolets
passing, wave & whistle
when she crosses
the Dog Pound driveway
howls come to rest
their vowels & sibilants silent
at my back door
she puts her hand out
for more love than a hard stick can shake
at a snake hole
motorcycles watch us undress
with pings, a hot crankcase cools
